Better Know A #PalestineMap

Google prides itself on being all things to all people. And, befitting our globalized times, Google’s search pages are localized both linguistically and by web address. Visit Google in Rio de Janeiro and your Brazilian IP address (i.e. internet location) will direct you to google.br rather than the google.com Americans are accustomed to. In France: google.fr; google.tn for Tunisia, and so on.

For Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, Google set up google.ps but initially titled the local search page the “Palestinian territories.” Then in Spring 2012, it changed its banner to “Palestine.” This sparked joy in the hearts of Palestinians: the world’s most prominent internet company had recognized the occupied territories as Palestine. Almost on cue, Israel protested. The then-Israeli deputy foreign minister, Ze’ev Elkin, sent an open letter to CEO Larry Page asserting that Google’s recognition of Palestine would “negatively impinge on the efforts of…

5 Palestinian Contemporary Artists You Should Know

Palestine Square | ميدان فلسـطيـن

Tarek Al-Ghoussein

Photographer and photojournalist Tarek Al-Ghoussein, born in Kuwait in 1962, currently resides in the United Arab Emirates. His work is inspired by the both the prejudice and restrictions Palestinians confront not only in the West, but also the East. Self-Portrait (2002 – ), for instance, stages solitary individuals in a Keffiyeh in front of airplanes or ships. Initially the viewer might suspect foul play, but it’s obvious that the image is innocuous, and thus forcing the viewer to confront their reflexive suspicion of Keffiyeh-clad Middle Easterners. Sometimes life mimics art: In 2003, Al-Ghoussein was accosted by a Jordanian police officer while taking a self-portrait in a Keffiyeh. A 22-hour interrogation followed. “What was I doing, who was I, why was I wearing the Palestinian scarf, why that particular scarf—not the red scarf or the other type of black scarf? And it just made me realize how charged that scarf…

“ISRAELI ARMY BEGINS DEPLOYING IN JERUSALEM AGAINST ATTACKS” – Deconstructing AP bias

Associated Press Deconstructed

By Alison Weir

Once again, the Associated Press provides a blatantly slanted news report on Israel-Palestine. The problem is, AP’s slant is only blatant to those who know the full facts. This is the article that hundreds of newspaper wire editors around the US, most of whom have never visited the region and whose information comes largely from AP, are seeing. Below I will discuss AP’s October 14 news report. I will quote the AP report in full, commenting below each section about what it contains and does not contain.

By Aron Heller

As is typical, AP’s story is written by an individual with strong connections to Israel. Aron Heller grew up in Israel, graduated from Tel Aviv University, and may be an Israeli citizen. It is likely that he or members of his family have served in the Israeli military. None of this is disclosed to AP readers…

Shocking and Horrific Footage: Zionist Crimes Against Jewish People

Occupied Palestine | فلسطين

Zionist Israeli Thugs are beating up and using tasers on members of the Orthodox Neturei Karta.

Anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews protesting the desecration of graves by a highway construction project near Haifa were attacked and brutally beaten by private security guards hired by the Ministry of Transportation.

The group, known for being outspokenly critical of the State of Israel and its very existence were peacefully demonstrating at the time. This attack follows a long history of violence against the Orthodox Jewish community.

Consistent with fundamental Jewish beliefs, some of these protesters often take part in demonstrations, side by side with Palestinians, against the State of Israel and its inhuman policies toward the Palestinian people.” The apparent strategy of using organized violence through private security personnel against these peaceful protesters is only one of many tactics used by the State of Israel to intimidate and discourage further protests. The police were nowhere…

▶ Israel’s Wall Of Shame

Occupied Palestine | فلسطين

July 31, 2014 by @occpal | Latest update Aug 31, 2014 | Continuously updated

One of ‘Israel’s biggest twats: Ambassador Ron Dermer said at an event hosted by the Christians United for Israel group that Israel deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for restraint shown by it’s “most moral army

I wonder if the hosting Christian society thinks that over again! Dear Christians…:

Do you know how Israel really thinks about you?

We do.

So we build this wall of shame. Because Ron and Israel, you need to get past this wall of shame first before claiming a Nobel peace Prize. The common sense people of this world will not let you get away with the crimes committed by Israel against the whole of humanity.

But first some facts:

For those living in complete ignorance:

It is not even about Palestinians, or Muslims. Israel even attacks it’s own Jews
